FCG is a financial services firm based in Florida. Today, FCG provides assistance in a variety of financial areas, including wealth management, fee-based financial planning, and insurance.2 Additionally, FCG offers financial products and services such as college planning, annuities, stocks, bond, money management accounts, IRAs, 401(k), mutual funds, and more.2 Today, FCG is headquartered in Coral Gables, Florida.
WHAT HAPPENED?
Recently, FCG reported to the Attorney General of New Hampshire that it had experienced a data breach in which sensitive personal identifiable information in its systems may have been accessed and acquired. According to the breach notice, on August 16, 2024, FCG became aware of suspicious activity within its email environment. As a result, FCG launched an investigation to determine the nature of the incident.
Through its investigation, FCG discovered that sensitive personal information in its systems may have been viewed and obtained by an unauthorized third party using an employee’s email account between August 13 and August 16, 2024. As a result, FCG began a review of the data to determine what information had been impacted as well as identify the specific individuals affected. The exact type of personal information potentially exposed has not been made publicly available by FCG. However, according to state reporting guidelines, “personal information” can include the following types of information:
- Name
- Social Security number
- Driver’s license or other government identification number
- Account number, credit or debit card number, in combination with any required security code, access code, or password that would permit access to an individual’s financial account
On November 12, 2024, FCG began mailing data breach notification letters to impacted individuals. Based on the breach notice sent to New Hampshire residents, FCG is providing affected individuals with a list of the specific types of sensitive information impacted and complimentary credit monitoring services.
