Founded in 2011, AnnieMac provides a variety of mortgage loan options to homebuyers, including conventional loans, VA loans, USDA loans, FHA loans, jumbo loans, and renovation loans.3 Today, AnnieMac is an approved seller/servicer with Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac and Ginnie Mae.4 Headquartered in Mount Laurel, New Jersey, AnnieMac has over 50 locations across 25 states and employs over 1,000 individuals.
WHAT HAPPENED?
Recently, AnnieMac reported to the Attorney General of Maine that it had experienced a data breach in which the sensitive personal identifiable information in its systems may have been accessed and acquired. According to the breach notice, on August 23, 2024, AnnieMac became aware of suspicious activity on certain systems within its network.1 As a result, AnnieMac launched an investigation to determine the nature of the incident.
Through its investigation, AnnieMac confirmed that sensitive personal information in its systems may have been viewed and obtained by an unauthorized third-party between August 21 and August 23, 2024. As a result, AnnieMac began a review of the data to determine what information had been impacted as well as identify the specific individuals affected. While the information impacted varies depending on the individual, the type of information potentially exposed includes:
- Name
- Social Security number
On November 14, 2024, AnnieMac began mailing data breach notification letters to impacted individuals. Based on the breach notice mailed to Maine residents, AnnieMac is providing affected individuals with a list of the specific types of sensitive information impacted and 12 months of complimentary credit monitoring.
