Set Forth Data Breach Investigation

Strauss Borrelli PLLC, a leading data breach law firm, is investigating Set Forth, Inc. (“Forth”) regarding its recent data breach. The Forth data breach may have involved sensitive personal identifiable information and protected health information belonging to 1.5 million individuals.

ABOUT SET FORTH, INC.:

Forth is an administrative services company that serves debt relief services providers and consumers enrolled in debt relief programs. Founded in 2009, Forth has been under two other names, DebtPayPro and Debt Pay Gateway.2 Working directly with consumers, Forth offers online account administration services.1 Consumers can view balances, settlement information, generate statements, and more through online access with Forth.3 For debt relief service providers, Forth also offers cloud-based consumer relationship management (CRM), marketing automation, and payment processing.2 One such business-to-business partner of Forth is Centrex, Inc.1 Headquartered in Schaumburg, Illinois, Forth employs over 10 people.

WHAT HAPPENED?

Recently, Forth reported to the Attorney General of Maine that it had experienced a data breach in which sensitive personal identifiable information in its systems may have been accessed and acquired. According to the breach notice, on or around May 21, 2024, Forth identified suspicious activity on its system.1 As a result, Forth launched an investigation to determine the nature of the incident.

Through its investigation, Forth determined that sensitive personal information in its systems may have been compromised, and began a review of the data to determine what information had been impacted as well as identify the specific individuals affected. Forth confirmed that personal information of consumers and related individuals (their spouse, co-applicant, or dependent) may have been impacted. The type of information potentially exposed includes:

  • Name
  • Social Security number
  • Date of birth
  • Address

 

Forth recently posted notice of the data breach on its website. Additionally, on November 8, 2024, Forth began mailing data breach notification letters to impacted individuals. Based on the breach notice sent to Maine residents, Forth is providing affected individuals with a list of the specific types of sensitive information impacted.
