WHAT HAPPENED?
Recently, Sango Family Dentistry announced that it had experienced a data breach in which the sensitive personal identifiable information and protected health information in its systems may have been accessed and acquired. According to the breach notice, on August 27, 2024, Sango Family Dentistry became aware of unusual activity that disrupted access to its systems.1 As a result, Sango Family Dentistry launched an investigation to determine the nature of the incident.
Through its investigation, Sango Family Dentistry confirmed that sensitive personal information in its systems may have been viewed and obtained by an unauthorized third-party during the incident on or around August 27, 2024. As a result, Sango Family Dentistry began a review of the data to determine what information had been impacted as well as identify the specific individuals affected. Additionally, on October 21, 2024, Sango Family Dentistry mailed data breach notification letters to impacted individuals.
