Creative Business Interiors Data Breach Investigation

Strauss Borrelli PLLC, a leading data breach law firm, is investigating Creative Business Interiors, Inc. (“Creative”) regarding its recent data breach. The Creative data breach may have involved sensitive personal identifiable information belonging to an undetermined number of individuals.

ABOUT CREATIVE BUSINESS INTERIORS, INC.:

Creative is an interior design and furniture manufacturing company based in Wisconsin. Founded in 1991, Creative provides an array of services, including interior design, interior construction, painting, commercial furnishings, and facility services.2 Today, Creative offers these services to a range of industries such as corporate, healthcare, education, government, and not for profit. Headquartered in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Creative has two additional locations in Wisconsin and employs over 50 individuals.

WHAT HAPPENED?

Recently, Creative reported to the Attorney General of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts that it had experienced a data breach in which sensitive personal identifiable information in its systems may have been accessed. According to the breach notice, on April 1, 2024, Creative became aware of unauthorized access to its network. As a result, Creative launched an investigation to determine the nature of the incident.

Through its investigation, Creative discovered that sensitive personal information in its systems may have been compromised by an unauthorized third party during the incident. As a result, Creative began a review of the data to determine what information had been impacted as well as identify the specific individuals affected. On September 24, 2024, Creative completed this review. The exact type of personal information potentially exposed has not been made publicly available by Creative. However, according to state reporting guidelines, “personal information” can include the following types of information:

  • Name
  • Social Security number
  • Driver’s license or state-issued identification card number
  • Financial account number, or credit or debit card number, with or without any required security code, access code, personal identification number or password, that would permit access to a resident’s financial account

 

As a result of the data breach, Creative began mailing data breach notification letters to impacted individuals. Based on the breach notice sent to Massachusetts residents, Creative is providing affected individuals with a list of the specific types of sensitive information impacted and complimentary credit monitoring services.
