Empower Services Data Breach Investigation

Strauss Borrelli PLLC, a leading data breach law firm, is investigating Empower Management Group, LLC, which does business as Empower Services (“Empower’), regarding its recent data breach. The Empower data breach may have involved sensitive personal identifiable information and protected health information belonging to an undetermined number of individuals.

ABOUT EMPOWER MANAGEMENT GROUP, LLC D/B/A EMPOWER SERVCIES:

Empower is a healthcare solutions company based in Texas. Partnering with healthcare providers, Empower offers a range of services including payroll processing, revenue cycle management, IT and software services, compliance, HR support, fleet management, business intelligence and reporting, and marketing and brand partnership.2 Headquartered in Richardson, Texas, Empower has two additional locations in Texas and employs over 10 individuals.

WHAT HAPPENED?

On October 9, 2024, Empower reported to the Attorney General of Texas that it had experienced a data breach in which the sensitive personal identifiable information and protected health information in its systems may have been accessed by an unauthorized third party. As of October 11, 2024, details of the breach have not been made publicly available by Empower. While not much is known about the breach, the type of information potentially exposed includes:

  • Name
  • Social Security number
  • Date of birth
  • Address
  • Financial information (e.g., account number, credit or debit card number)
  • Medical information
  • Health insurance information

 

As of October 11, 2024, Empower has not provided notice to impacted individuals. A link to the breach report filed by the Attorney General of Texas is below.
