Partnering with healthcare providers, Empower offers a range of services including payroll processing, revenue cycle management, IT and software services, compliance, HR support, fleet management, business intelligence and reporting, and marketing and brand partnership.2 Headquartered in Richardson, Texas, Empower has two additional locations in Texas and employs over 10 individuals.
WHAT HAPPENED?
On October 9, 2024, Empower reported to the Attorney General of Texas that it had experienced a data breach in which the sensitive personal identifiable information and protected health information in its systems may have been accessed by an unauthorized third party. As of October 11, 2024, details of the breach have not been made publicly available by Empower. While not much is known about the breach, the type of information potentially exposed includes:
- Name
- Social Security number
- Date of birth
- Address
- Financial information (e.g., account number, credit or debit card number)
- Medical information
- Health insurance information
