ENCORE, SHOEBILEE and Burlington Shoes.2 Through its many locations, SHOE SHOW offers a wide range of products from a variety of brands, including athletic, dress, work, and casual shoes, sandals, boots, accessories, backpacks, handbags, and more. Headquartered in Concord, North Carolina, SHOE SHOW has over 1,000 stores across 47 states and employs over 10,000 individuals.

WHAT HAPPENED?

Recently, SHOE SHOW reported to the Attorney General of Maine that it had experienced a data breach in which the sensitive personal identifiable information in its systems may have been accessed and acquired. According to the breach notice, SHOE SHOW recently discovered unauthorized activity within an employee’s email account. As a result, SHOE SHOW launched an investigation to determine the nature of the incident.

Through its investigation, SHOE SHOW learned that sensitive personal information in its systems may have been compromised by an unauthorized individual using the employee’s email account between June 28, 2024, and July 6, 2024. As a result, SHOE SHOW began a review of the data to determine what information had been impacted as well as identify the specific individuals affected. While the information impacted varies depending on the individual, the type of information potentially exposed includes:

  • Name
  • Social Security number

 

On October 9, 2024, SHOE SHOW began mailing data breach notification letters to impacted individuals. Based on the breach notice sent to Maine residents, SHOE SHOW is providing affected individuals with a list of the specific types of sensitive information impacted and 12 months of complimentary credit monitoring services.
