WHAT HAPPENED?

Recently, Long Island Plastic Surgical Group announced that it had experienced a data breach in which the sensitive personal identifiable information and protected health information in its systems may have been accessed. According to the breach notice, Long Island Plastic Surgical Group recently discovered unauthorized access to its network. As a result, Long Island Plastic Surgical Group launched an investigation to determine the nature of the incident.

Through its investigation, Long Island Plastic Surgical Group learned that sensitive personal information in its systems may have been viewed and obtained by an unauthorized third-party between January 4 and January 8, 2024. As a result, Long Island Plastic Surgical Group began a review of the data to determine what information had been impacted as well as identify the specific individuals affected. On September 15, 2024, Long Island Plastic Surgical Group completed this review. While the information impacted varies depending on the individual, the type of information potentially exposed includes:

  • Name
  • Social Security number
  • Clinical photographs
  • Date of birth
  • Driver’s license or state identification number
  • Passport number
  • Financial account information
  • Biometric information
  • Medical information
  • Health insurance policy information

 

As a result of the data breach, Long Island Plastic Surgical Group posted notice of the incident on its website. Additionally, on or about October 4, 2024, Long Island Plastic Surgical Group began mailing data breach notification letters to impacted individuals. Based on the website breach notice, Long Island Plastic Surgical Group is providing affected individuals with a list of the specific type of sensitive information impacted and complimentary identity monitoring services.
