Strauss Borrelli PLLC, a leading data breach law firm, is investigating Feldstein & Stewart CPAs, LLP (“F&S”), regarding its recent data breach. The F&S data breach may have involved sensitive personal identifiable information belonging to an undetermined number of individuals.

F&S is a full-service accounting firm based in New York. Founded in 2010, F&S provides a full range of financial and accounting services to small and medium sized businesses and individuals.3 Today, these services include tax planning and preparation, estate and retirement planning, reviews and compilations, auditing, bookkeeping, and new business consulting.3 F&S is headquartered in New York, New York.

WHAT HAPPENED?

Recently, F&S reported to the Attorney General of Iowa that it had experienced a data breach in which the sensitive personal identifiable information in its systems may have been accessed and acquired. According to the breach notice, on March 25, 2024, F&S discovered that it had experienced a network disruption.1 As a result, F&S launched an investigation to determine the nature of the incident.

Through its investigation, F&S learned that sensitive personal information in its systems may have been compromised by an unauthorized individual during the incident. As a result, F&S began a review of the data to determine what information had been impacted as well as identify the specific individuals affected. On September 16, 2024, F&S completed this review. While the information impacted varies depending on the individual, the type of information potentially exposed includes:

  • Name
  • Social Security number
  • Financial account number

 

On September 25, 2024, F&S began mailing data breach notification letters to impacted individuals. Based on the breach notice sent to Iowa residents, F&S is providing affected individuals with a list of the specific type of sensitive information impacted and complimentary credit monitoring services.
