Founded in 1996, Sunrise specializes in the furnishing and installation of fully engineered architectural exterior wall systems throughout New England.2 Today, Sunrise’s services include façade systems, engineering and lab testing, custom fabrication, design-assist services, and the design and development of full-scale mockups.2 Headquartered in Canton, Massachusetts, Sunrise has one additional location and employs over 200 individuals.
WHAT HAPPENED?
Recently, Sunrise reported to the Attorney General of Vermont that it had experienced a data breach in which the sensitive personal identifiable information in its systems may have been accessed. According to the breach notice, on or around August 7, 2024, Sunrise experienced a network disruption that affected its systems.1 As a result, Sunrise launched an investigation to determine the nature of the incident.
Through its investigation, Sunrise learned that sensitive personal information in its systems may have been compromised by an unauthorized individual during the incident. As a result, Sunrise began a review of the data to determine what information had been impacted as well as identify the specific individuals affected. While the information impacted varies depending on the individual, the type of information potentially exposed includes:
- Name
- Social Security number
On September 23, 2024, Sunrise began mailing data breach notification letters to impacted individuals. Based on the breach notice sent to Vermont residents, Sunrise is providing affected individuals with a list of the specific type of sensitive information impacted and complimentary credit monitoring services.
