NewEdge Advisors Data Breach Investigation

Strauss Borrelli PLLC, a leading data breach law firm, is investigating NewEdge Advisors, LLC regarding its recent data breach. The NewEdge Advisors data breach may have involved sensitive personal identifiable information belonging to over 1,100 individuals.

WHAT HAPPENED?

Recently, NewEdge Advisors reported to the Attorney General of Maine that it had experienced a data breach in which the sensitive personal identifiable information in its systems may have been accessed. According to the breach notice, on or about February 15, 2024, NewEdge Advisors detected suspicious activity within an independent advisor’s email account. As a result, NewEdge Advisors launched an investigation to determine the nature of the incident.

Through its investigation, New Edge Advisors learned that sensitive personal information in its systems may have been compromised by an unauthorized actor using email accounts within the tenet between October 21, 2023, and March 6, 2024. As a result, NewEdge Advisors began a review of the data to determine what information had been impacted as well as identify the specific individuals affected. On July 18, 2024, NewEdge Advisors completed this review. While the information impacted varies depending on the individual, the type of information potentially exposed includes:

  • Name
  • Social Security number
  • Driver’s license and/or state identification number
  • Financial account number

 

On September 12, 2024, NewEdge Advisors began mailing data breach notification letters to impacted individuals. Based on the breach notice sent to Maine residents, NewEdge Advisors is providing affected individuals with a list of the specific type of sensitive information impacted and complimentary credit monitoring services.
