Oldenburg Group Data Breach Investigation

Strauss Borrelli PLLC, a leading data breach law firm, is investigating Oldenburg Group Incorporated and its division, Visa Lighting (collectively, “Oldenburg Group”), regarding its recent data breach. Oldenburg Group’s division, Visa Lighting, is an architectural lighting manufacturer based in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.4 Founded in 1943, Visa Lighting provides a variety of indoor and outdoor lighting products, in addition to its special line of healthcare lighting solutions. Headquartered in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Visa Lighting has one location and employs over 50 individuals.

WHAT HAPPENED?

Recently, Oldenburg Group reported to the Attorney General of Maine that it had experienced a data breach in which the sensitive personal identifiable information and protected health information in its systems may have been accessed. According to the breach notice, Oldenburg Group recently discovered that it was the victim of a ransomware attack. As a result, Oldenburg Group launched an investigation to determine the nature of the incident.

Through its investigation, Oldenburg Group learned that sensitive personal information in its systems may have been compromised by an unauthorized actor via the ransomware attack between May 4 and May 5, 2024. As a result, Oldenburg Group began a review of the data to determine what information had been impacted as well as identify the specific individuals affected. While the information impacted varies depending on the individual, the type of information potentially exposed includes:

  • Name
  • Social Security number
  • Address
  • Date of birth
  • Email address
  • Driver’s license number
  • Financial account information
  • Tax information
  • Medical information
  • Health insurance information

 

On July 2, 2024, Oldenburg Group began mailing data breach notification letters to impacted individuals. Based on the breach notice sent to Maine residents, Oldenburg Group is providing affected individuals with a list of the specific type of sensitive information impacted and 12 months of complimentary credit monitoring services.
