NEWW Packaging & Display Data Breach Investigation

Additionally, NEWW offers a range of services such as digital mockups, new item sampling, 3D renderings, PDF arrivals, pre-shipment testing, on-site conceptual design, board grade evaluation, and packaging efficiency evaluation programs. Today, NEWW’s customers span the biomedical, food & beverage, club store, consumer goods, health & beauty, wholesale clubs, and E-commerce industries. Headquartered in Gardner, Massachusetts, NEWW employs over 50 individuals.

WHAT HAPPENED?

Recently, NEWW reported to the Attorney General of Vermont that it had experienced a data breach in which the sensitive personal identifiable information in its systems may have been accessed. According to the breach notice, on or around April 5, 2024, NEWW became aware of unauthorized activity within its computer environment. As a result, NEWW launched an investigation to determine the nature of the incident.

Through its investigation, NEWW learned that sensitive personal information in its systems may have been compromised by an unauthorized actor during the incident. As a result, NEWW began a review of the data to determine what information had been impacted as well as identify the specific individuals affected. While the information impacted varies depending on the individual, the type of information potentially exposed includes:

  • Name
  • Social Security number
  • Driver’s license number
  • Financial account information

 

On September 3, 2024, NEWW began mailing data breach notification letters to impacted individuals. Based on the breach notices provided to Vermont residents, NEWW is providing affected individuals with a list of the specific type of sensitive information impacted and complimentary credit monitoring services.
