Strauss Borrelli PLLC, a leading data breach law firm, is investigating Vasinda’s Around the Clock Care, Inc., which does business as Around the Clock Companies (“ATC”), regarding its recent data breach. ATC is a full-service home care agency based in California. Founded in 1985, ATC provides a continuum of services to meet the needs of patients and caregivers, including home healthcare, companion care, representative payee services, caregiver training and more.3 Today, ATC’s home healthcare services are available to patients of all ages with acute illness, long term health conditions, temporary or permanent disability, terminal illness, or in lieu of hospitalization, as determined by the patient’s physician, in order to remain at home.4 Headquartered in Bakersfield, California, ATC employs over 50 individuals.
WHAT HAPPENED?
Recently, ATC reported to the Attorney General of California that it had experienced a data breach in which the sensitive personal information in its systems may have been accessed and acquired. According to the breach notice, on June 18, 2024, ATC discovered unusual activity within its computer network. As a result, ATC launched an investigation to determine the nature of the incident.
Through its investigation, ATC learned that sensitive personal information in its systems may have been viewed and copied by an unauthorized actor between January 30, 2024, and June 18, 2024. As a result, ATC began a review of the data to determine what information had been impacted as well as identify the specific individuals affected. While the information impacted varies depending on the individual, the type of information potentially exposed includes:
- Name
- Social Security number
- Address
- Medical information (e.g., diagnosis, lab results, medications, treatment information)
- Health insurance information
- Billing and claims information
On August 16, 2024, ATC mailed data breach notification letters to impacted individuals. Based on the breach notice sent to California residents, ATC is providing affected individuals with a list of the specific type of sensitive information impacted and 12 months of complimentary credit monitoring services.
