WHAT HAPPENED?
Recently, Siegfried’s Basement reported to the Attorney General of Vermont that it had experienced a data breach in which the sensitive personal identifiable information in its systems may have been accessed and acquired. According to the breach notice, on July 17, 2024, Siegfried’s Basement discovered that it was the victim of a ransomware attack. As a result, Siegfried’s Basement launched an investigation to determine the nature of the incident.
Through its investigation, Siegfried’s Basement learned that sensitive personal information in its systems may have been viewed or taken by the ransomware actor on July 16, 2024 While Siegfried’s Basement is still reviewing the involved data and working to confirm affected individuals, it believes the potentially exposed information includes:
- Name
- Social security number
- Contact information
- Date of birth
- Financial information
- Banking information
- Credit card numbers
As a result of the data breach, Siegfried’s Basement began mailing data breach notification letters to possibly impacted individuals. Based on the breach notices provided to the Attorney General of Vermont, Siegfried’s Basement is providing complimentary credit monitoring services.
