WHAT HAPPENED?
Recently, Innophos reported to the Attorney General of Maine that it had experienced a data breach in which the sensitive personal information in its systems may have been accessed. According to the breach notice, on June 4, 2024, Innophos became aware of suspicious activity on its computer network. As a result, Innophos launched an investigation to determine the nature of the incident.
Through its investigation, Innophos learned that sensitive personal information in its systems may have been viewed by an unauthorized actor on or around June 4, 2024. As a result, Innophos began a review of the data to determine what information had been impacted as well as identify the specific individuals affected. The exact type of personal information potentially exposed has not been made publicly available by Innophos. However, according to state reporting guidelines, “personal information” can include the following types of information:
- Name
- Social Security number
- Account number, credit or debit card number
- Account passwords or personal identification numbers
- Driver’s license or state identification number
On August 22, 2024, Innophos began mailing data breach notification letters to impacted individuals. Based on the breach notice sent to Maine residents, Innophos is providing affected individuals with a list of the specific type of sensitive information impacted and 24 months of complimentary credit monitoring services.
