Axip Energy Services Data Breach Investigation

Strauss Borrelli PLLC, a leading data breach law firm, is investigating Axip Energy Services, LP (“Axip”) regarding its recent data breach. The Axip data breach involved sensitive personal identifiable information and protected health information belonging to an undetermined number of individuals.

ABOUT AXIP ENERGY SERVICES, LP:

Axip is an oil and gas energy company based in Texas. Founded in 2014, Axip provides natural gas compression services to upstream and midstream customers in all major producing basins in the United States and offshore Gulf of Mexico.2 Today, Axip’s compression fleet of over 500,000 horsepower comprises both electric and natural gas driven units ranging from 100 – 2,500 horsepower.2 Headquartered in Houston, Texas, Axip employs over 50 individuals.

WHAT HAPPENED?

On August 22, 2024, Axip reported to the Attorney General of Texas that it had experienced a data breach in which the sensitive personal identifiable information and protected health information in its systems may have been accessed by an unauthorized third party. As of August 22, 2024, details of the breach have not been made publicly available by Axip. While not much is known about the breach, the type of information potentially exposed includes:

  • Name
  • Social Security number
  • Address
  • Date of birth
  • Driver’s license number
  • Government issued ID number (e.g., passport, state ID number)
  • Financial information (e.g., account number, credit or debit card number)
  • Health insurance information

 

As a result of the data breach, Axip began mailing data breach notification letters to impacted individuals. A link to the breach report filed by the Attorney General of Texas is below.
