Consilium Staffing Data Breach Investigation

ABOUT CONSILIUM STAFFING, INC.:

Consilium is a locum tenens and staffing company based in Texas. Founded in 2011, Consilium connects contract healthcare providers with understaffed medical facilities across the country.2 Today, Consilium partners with healthcare providers and offers them access to its nationwide network of physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, dentists, and CRNAs.3 Additionally, Consilium provides partners with a dedicated consultant to find the right locum tenens professionals to assist with their physician staffing needs, offering a tailored search based on location, facility type, patient load, and more.4 Headquartered in Irving, Texas, Consilium employs over 50 individuals.

WHAT HAPPENED?

Recently, Consilium reported to the Attorney General of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts that it had experienced a data breach in which the sensitive personal identifiable information in its systems may have been accessed and acquired. According to the breach notice, on October 24, 2023, Consilium discovered suspicious activity on its network environment. As a result, Consilium launched an investigation to determine the nature of the incident.

Through its investigation, Consilium learned that sensitive personal information in its systems may have been viewed and taken by an unauthorized actor. As a result, Consilium began a review of the data to determine what information had been impacted as well as identify the specific individuals affected. On April 26, 2024, Consilium completed this review. While the information impacted varies depending on the individual, the type of information potentially exposed includes:

  • Name
  • Social Security number
  • Date of birth
  • Driver’s license number

 

On July 15, 2024, Consilium began mailing data breach notification letters to impacted individuals. Based on the breach notice sent to Massachusetts residents, Consilium is providing affected individuals with a list of the specific type of sensitive information impacted and 24 months of complimentary credit monitoring services.
