Strauss Borrelli PLLC, a leading data breach law firm, is investigating Communication Federal Credit Union (“CFCU”) regarding its recent data breach. The CFCU data breach involved sensitive personal identifiable information belonging to an undetermined number of individuals.

WHAT HAPPENED?
Recently, CFCU announced that it had experienced a data breach in which the sensitive personal identifiable information in its systems may have been accessed. According to the breach notice, on January 11, 2024, CFCU identified suspicious activity on its network systems. As a result, CFCU launched an investigation to determine the nature of the incident.
Through its investigation, CFCU learned that sensitive personal information in its systems may have been compromised by an unauthorized third party between December 31, 2023, and January 11, 2024. As a result, CFCU began a review of the data to determine what information had been impacted as well as identify the specific individuals affected. While the information impacted varies depending on the individual, the type of information potentially exposed includes:
- Name
- Social Security number
- Date of birth
- Address
- Driver’s license number
- Financial information (e.g., bank account, and bank card numbers)
In the near future, CFCU will begin mailing data breach notification letters to impacted individuals. Based on the breach notice on its website, CFCU is providing affected individuals with a list of the specific type of sensitive information impacted and complimentary credit monitoring services.
