Aire Dental Arts Data Breach Investigation

Strauss Borrelli PLLC, a leading data breach law firm, is investigating PG Dental, PLLC, which does business as Aire Dental Arts, regarding its recent data breach. The Aire Dental Arts data breach involved sensitive personal identifiable information and protected health information belonging to over 10,000 individuals.

Aire Dental Arts is a dental practice based in New York. Today, Aire Dental Arts offers comprehensive dental care to individuals, including preventative care, cosmetic and restorative care, orthodontics, periodontic treatment, endodontic treatment, oral surgery and implants, and emergency care and adjunctive services. To achieve this, Aire Dental Arts uses an array of techniques and technologies such as digital radiography, near-infrared light transillumination, intraoral cameras, noise-dampened handpieces, ultrasonic dental hygiene instruments, laser tooth whitening, and laser TMJ pain therapy. Headquartered in New York, New York, Aire Dental Arts is the personal practice of Dr. Paria Goodarzi.

WHAT HAPPENED?

Recently, Aire Dental Arts announced that it had experienced a data breach in which the sensitive personal identifiable information and protected health information in its systems may have been accessed. According to the breach notice posted on its website, in June 2024, Aire Dental Arts became aware of malicious file encryption on certain computer systems in its environment.1 As a result, Aire Dental Arts launched an investigation to determine the nature of the incident.

Through its investigation, Aire Dental Arts determined that a threat actor gained access to a limited number of systems and certain files in those systems were accessed on June 15, 2024.1 As a result, Aire Dental Arts began a review of the data to determine what information had been impacted as well as identify the specific individuals affected. Recently, Aire Dental Arts completed this review. While the information impacted varies depending on the individual, the type of information potentially exposed includes:

  • Name
  • Social Security number
  • Date of birth
  • Address
  • Medical information

 

Recently, Aire Dental Arts posted a notice of the incident on its website. Additionally, on August 12, 2024, Aire Dental Arts mailed data breach notification letters to impacted individuals. Based on the breach notice filed with the Attorney General of Maine, Aire Dental Arts is providing affected individuals with a list of the specific type of sensitive information impacted and 12 months of complimentary credit monitoring services.
