WHAT HAPPENED?

Recently, DHC reported to the Attorney General of Maine that it had experienced a data breach in which the sensitive personal identifiable information in its systems may have been accessed and acquired. According to the breach notice, on August 18, 2023, DHC detected suspicious activity on its computer network. As a result, DHC launched an investigation to determine the nature of the incident.

Through its investigation, DHC learned that sensitive personal information in its systems may have been viewed and taken by an unauthorized actor between January 12, 2023, and August 18, 2023. As a result, DHC began a review of the data to determine what information had been impacted as well as identify the specific individuals affected. The exact type of personal information potentially exposed has not been made publicly available by DHC.
