CSC ServiceWorks Data Breach Investigation

Strauss Borrelli PLLC, a leading data breach law firm, is investigating CSC ServiceWorks, Inc. (“CSC”) regarding its recent data breach. The CSC data breach involved sensitive personal information and protected health information belonging to over 35,000 individuals.

ABOUT CSC SERVICEWORKS, INC.:

CSC is a commercial laundry services and air vending solutions company based in New York. With a history dating back to 1927, CSC provides laundry and air services in apartment, condominium, education, hotel and hospitality, and convenience and gas environments around the world.2 Today, CSC serves over 40 million residents, consumers, property managers, and owners across the United States, Canada, and Europe.2 Headquartered in Melville, New York, CSC employs over 3,000 individuals.

WHAT HAPPENED?

Recently, CSC reported to the Attorney General of California that it had experienced a data breach in which the sensitive personal identifiable information and protected health information in its systems may have been accessed. According to the breach notice, on February 4, 2024, CSC became aware of suspicious activity on its network. As a result, CSC launched an investigation to determine the nature of the incident.

Through its investigation, CSC learned that sensitive personal information in its systems may have been compromised between September 23, 2023, and February 4, 2024. As a result, CSC began a review of the data to determine what information had been impacted as well as identify the specific individuals affected. While the information impacted varies depending on the individual, the type of information potentially exposed includes:             

  • Name
  • Social Security number
  • Date of birth
  • Contact information
  • Driver’s license number
  • Financial information (e.g., bank account and routing number)
  • Medical information
  • Health insurance information

 

As a result of the data breach, CSC mailed data breach notification letters to impacted individuals. Based on the breach notice sent to California residents, CSC is providing affected individuals with a list of the specific type of sensitive information impacted and complimentary credit monitoring services.
