Founded in 1886, Congoleum offers flooring options in an array of styles and colors to fit any décor.2 In-register embossing for resilient sheet, the invention of the first groutable resilient tile and the world’s first PVC-free and digitally printed resilient tile and plank are but a few of the industry-leading technologies that were created by Congoleum.3 Headquartered in Mercerville, New Jersey, Congoleum has operating manufacturing plants in Maryland, Pennsylvania, and New Jersey, and employs over 500 individuals.
WHAT HAPPENED?
Recently, Congoleum reported to the Attorney General of Maine that it had experienced a data breach in which the sensitive personal identifiable information in its systems may have been accessed and acquired. According to the breach notice, on June 30, 2024, Congoleum discovered unauthorized activity within its digital environment. As a result, Congoleum launched an investigation to determine the nature of the incident.
Through its investigation, Congoleum learned that sensitive personal information may have been viewed or taken from its network. As a result, Congoleum began a review of the data to determine what information had been impacted as well as identify the specific individuals affected. On July 30, 2024, Congoleum completed this review. While the information impacted varies depending on the individual, the type of information potentially exposed includes:
- Name
- Social Security number
On August 7, 2024, Congoleum began mailing data breach notification letters to impacted individuals. Based on the breach notice sent to Maine residents, Congoleum is providing affected individuals with a list of the specific type of sensitive information impacted and complimentary credit monitoring services.
