Founded in 1990, M&M Transport has steadily grown into a nationwide, dedicated transportation provider for some of the biggest retail, manufacturing, distribution and logistics companies in the country.2 Today, M&M Transport’s scope of operations consists of multiple terminal locations in Massachusetts, Connecticut, Indiana, Maryland, Rhode Island, Pennsylvania, and Arizona where a modern fleet of over 550 tractors and 3,000 trailers service a diverse customer base.2 Headquartered in West Bridgewater, Massachusetts, M&M transport employs over 500 individuals.
WHAT HAPPENED?
Recently, M&M Transport reported to the Attorney General of Maine that it had experienced a data breach in which the sensitive personal identifiable information in its systems may have been accessed and acquired. According to the breach notice, on June 30, 2024, M&M Transport detected that an unauthorized third party had accessed its systems and deployed malicious software. As a result, M&M Transport launched an investigation to determine the nature of the incident.
Through its investigation, M&M Transport learned that sensitive personal information may have been viewed or taken from its systems on June 4, 2024. As a result, M&M Transport began a review of the data to determine what information had been impacted as well as identify the specific individuals affected. While the information impacted varies depending on the individual, the type of information potentially exposed includes:
- Name
- Social Security number
- Date of birth
- Driver’s license information
- Passport number
- I-9 information
On July 31, 2024, M&M Transport began mailing data breach notification letters to impacted individuals. Based on the breach notice sent to Maine residents, M&M Transport is providing affected individuals with a list of the specific type of sensitive information impacted and 12 months of complimentary credit monitoring services.
