K-FLEX USA Data Breach Investigation

Strauss Borrelli PLLC, a leading data breach law firm, is investigating K-FLEX USA, LLC (“K-FLEX”) regarding its recent data breach. The K-FLEX data breach involved sensitive personal identifiable information belonging to over 1,200 individuals.

K-FLEX is the North American division of the IK Insulation Group, an innovative leader in flexible elastomeric foam insulation with 12 production facilities worldwide and a distribution channel that reaches 43 countries.2 Today, K-FLEX manufactures thermal and acoustic insulation and jacketing systems that allow for an efficient installation process and deliver reliable and lasting performance on pipes, ducts, vessels and equipment for a wide range of applications, including HVAC, Refrigeration and Industrial Process Systems.2 Additionally, K-FLEX’s diversified product portfolio provides innovative and sustainable solutions for many industries including residential and commercial construction, transportation, petrochemical and renewable energy.3 Headquartered in Youngsville, North Carolina, K-FLEX employs over 200 individuals.

WHAT HAPPENED?

Recently, K-FLEX reported to the Attorney General of Maine that it had experienced a data breach in which the sensitive personal identifiable information in its systems may have been accessed and acquired. According to the breach notice, on or about November 14, 2023, K-FLEX discovered that it was the victim of a cybersecurity attack. As a result, K-FLEX launched an investigation to determine the nature of the incident.

Through its investigation, K-FLEX learned that sensitive personal information may have been viewed or taken from its systems. As a result, K-FLEX began a review of the data to determine what information had been impacted as well as identify the specific individuals affected. On July 12, 2024, K-FLEX completed this review. While the information impacted varies depending on the individual, the type of information potentially exposed includes:

  • Name
  • Social Security number
  • Driver’s license or state identification card number

 

On July 30, 2024, K-FLEX began mailing data breach notification letters to impacted individuals. Based on the breach notice sent to Maine residents, K-FLEX is providing affected individuals with a list of the specific type of sensitive information impacted and 12 months of complimentary credit monitoring services.
