Therapeutic Health Services Data Breach Investigation

Strauss Borrelli PLLC, a leading data breach law firm, is investigating Therapeutic Health Services (“THS”) regarding its recent data breach. The THS data breach involved sensitive personal identifiable information and protected health information belonging to over 14,000 individuals.  

ABOUT THERAPEUTIC HEALTH SERVICES:

THS is a nonprofit mental healthcare and addiction treatment organization based in Washington. Founded in 1972, THS operates on the belief that chemical dependency and mental illness are chronic, progressive diseases that respond to appropriate intervention, treatment, and prevention.2 Accordingly, THS’ approach includes mental health and family services, plus a wide range of chemical dependency treatments such as methadone and counseling.2 Headquartered in Seattle, Washington, THS has eight additional locations throughout the Seattle metropolitan area and employs over 200 individuals.

WHAT HAPPENED?

Recently, THS discovered that it had experienced a data breach in which sensitive personal identifiable information and protected health information in its systems may have been accessed. Through its investigation, THS determined that an unauthorized third party accessed this sensitive information on February 26, 2024. On July 18, 2024, THS began notifying individuals whose information may have been impacted. The type of personal information potentially exposed includes:

  • Name
  • Social Security number
  • Date of birth
  • Information regarding medical services provided by THS
  • Health information
