Human Technology is a medical equipment and prosthetic manufacturing company based in Tennessee. Founded in 2009, Human Technology was formed with the singular focus of bringing the most effective solutions for patients experiencing limb loss, amputation, or specific musculoskeletal conditions caused by injury, illness or congenital anomaly.2 Today, Human Technology offers a wide range of prosthetics and orthotic solutions for patients, including transfemoral, transtibial, transhumeral, and transradial prosthetics, and adult and pediatric orthoses. Headquartered in Memphis, Tennessee, Human Technology has seven additional locations and employs over 50 individuals.
WHAT HAPPENED?
On March 15, 2024, Human Technology discovered that it had experienced a data breach in which the sensitive personal identifiable information and protected health information in its systems may have been accessed and acquired. Through its investigation, Human Technology determined that an unauthorized third party accessed this sensitive information between March 14 and March 15, 2024. As a result, Human Technology began notifying individuals whose information may have been impacted. The type of information potentially exposed includes:
- Name
- Social Security number
- Date of birth
- Driver’s license or state ID number
- Passport number
- Taxpayer ID number
- Financial information (e.g., account and routing numbers)
- Medical information
- Health insurance information
