Formed in 2002 from the consolidation of Bostrom Bergen Metal Products and Meddco Metals, Olson Steel is in the business of fabricating and installing structural steel, miscellaneous iron, and ornamental metals for the construction industry.2 Additionally, Olson Steel provides turn key services from in-house design/detailing to actual fabrication and erection.2 Today, Olson Steel’s specialties include structural steel, seismic retrofits, stairs, misc. metals, architectural and ornamental metals, and in-house steel detailing that uses Tekla 3-D Modeling systems, including BIM & design assist experience.2 Headquartered in San Leandro, California, Olson Steel has two additional locations and employs over 200 individuals.

WHAT HAPPENED?

Recently, Olson Steel discovered that it had experienced a data breach in which the sensitive personal identifiable in its systems may have been accessed and acquired. Through its investigation, Olson Steel determined that an unauthorized third party accessed this sensitive information on April 10, 2024. On July 3, 2024, Olson Steel began notifying individuals whose information may have been impacted. The type of information potentially exposed includes:

  • Name
  • Social Security number
  • Driver’s license number
  • Passport or other government issued ID number
