Founded in 1986, Hafetz specializes in employee benefits, Medicare, worksite products, and life and disability products for individuals and employer groups.2 Today, clients of Hafetz receive their own personal representative who works on their health insurance solutions and handles all billing and claim inquiries directly with their carrier.3 As one of a handful of Master Brokers for Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Jersey, Hafetz can develop customized solutions to fit clients’ health insurance needs.3 Headquartered in Linwood, New Jersey, Hafetz has an additional location in St. Petersburg, Florida.

WHAT HAPPENED?

In 2023, Hafetz discovered that it had experienced a data breach in which the sensitive personal identifiable in its systems may have been accessed. Through its investigation, Hafetz determined that an unauthorized third party accessed this sensitive information through multiple employee email accounts between July 24, 2023, and October 12, 2023. As a result, Hafetz began notifying individuals whose information may have been impacted. The type of information potentially exposed includes:

  • Name
  • Social Security number
