WHAT HAPPENED?
On May 9th, 2024, Christie’s shared that it experienced a “technology security issue,” which caused their website to be down for days and affect that weekend’s art auction in New York.2 On May 27th, 2024, the hacker group RansomHub took credit for the Christie’s cyberattack.3 Christie’s has been investigating the incident, confirming that an unauthorized third party accessed parts of its network and that “the group behind the incident took some limited amount of personal data relating to some of [its] clients.”3 As of May 28th, 2024, Christie’s has not confirmed the kinds of data that were taken or the number of people affected.
