Sav-Rx Prescription Services Data Breach Investigation

Founded in 1966, Sav-Rx’s services enable nearly 1,000 Union Health and Welfare Funds, other plan sponsors, and millions of American workers and their families who rely upon them for benefits to maintain affordable access to life-changing medications, maximizing their well-being at the lowest net cost.3 Today, Sav-Rx’s comprehensive services include retail network, mail order pharmacy, specialty pharmacy, account management, project management, and client services.4 Headquartered in Freemont, San Diego, Sav-Rx employs over 200 individuals.

WHAT HAPPENED?

Recently, Sav-Rx experienced a data breach in which sensitive personal identifiable and protected health information in its systems may have been accessed and acquired. Through its investigation, Sav-Rx determined that an unauthorized actor gained access to this sensitive information on or around October 3, 2023. On May 24, 2024, Sav-Rx began notifying individuals whose information may have been impacted. The type of information potentially exposed includes:

  • Name
  • Social Security number
  • Date of birth
  • Address
  • Contact information
  • Health insurance information
