Peddie School Data Breach Investigation

Strauss Borrelli PLLC, a leading data breach law firm, is investigating Peddie School (“Peddie”) regarding its recent data breach. The Peddie data breach involved sensitive personal identifiable information belonging to over 1,500 individuals.

ABOUT THE PEDDIE SCHOOL:

Peddie is a private secondary and post-secondary school based in New Jersey. Founded in 1864, Peddie is a private, independent, coeducational boarding and day school for grades 9-12 and postgraduate.3 Today, Peddie offers 150 courses and 34 subject areas for AP and honors.4 Additionally, Peddie students have the opportunity to participate in an immersion program through School Year Abroad, a nonprofit experience established in 1964.5 Located in Hightstown, New Jersey, Peddie has total enrollment of over 500 students and employs over 50 individuals.

WHAT HAPPENED?

Recently, Peddie discovered that it had experienced a data breach in which the sensitive personal identifiable information in its systems may have been accessed or acquired. Through its investigation, Peddie determined that an unauthorized actor may have accessed this sensitive information between October 30, 2023, and December 22, 2023. On May 23, 2024, Peddie began notifying individuals whose information may have been impacted. The type of information potentially exposed includes:

  • Name
  • Social Security number
