Canatal is a steel construction company based in Canada. Founded in 1990, Canatal fabricates and installs steel structures in accordance with stringent specifications and schedules.3 Today, Canatal offers a wide range of services, including pre-construction and estimates, engineering, detailing & 3D modeling, fabrication, project management, steel erection, and material transportation. Headquartered in Thetford Mines, Quebec, Canatal Industries has four offices in the US and Canada and employs over 500 individuals.

WHAT HAPPENED?

Recently, Canatal discovered that it had experienced a data breach in which the sensitive personal identifiable information in its systems may have been accessed and acquired. Through its investigation, Canatal determined that an unauthorized actor may have accessed this sensitive information via a ransomware attack on April 17, 2024. On May 8, 2024, Canatal began notifying individuals whose information may have been impacted. The type of information potentially exposed includes:

  • Name
  • Social Security number
  • Date of birth
  • Contact information (e.g., phone number, address, email)
  • Personal identification
  • Human recourse file information
