Strauss Borrelli PLLC, a leading data breach law firm, is investigating American International College (“AIC”) regarding its recent data breach. The AIC data breach involved sensitive personal identifiable information belonging to over 11,800 individuals.
ABOUT AMERICAN INTERNATIONAL COLLEGE:
AIC is a private, liberal arts college located in Springfield, Massachusetts. Founded in 1885, AIC offers undergraduate academic programs in more than three dozen liberal arts and sciences and career-related fields, including the humanities, the social sciences, the physical sciences, accounting, business administration, criminal justice, nursing, occupational therapy, physical therapy, sports management, and more.2 Competing in Division II of the NCAA as the Yellow Jackets, AIC has 25 intercollegiate teams and a total enrollment of approximately 2,000 students.
WHAT HAPPENED?
On December 3, 2023, AIC discovered that it had experienced a data breach in which sensitive personal identifiable information in its systems may have been accessed. Through its investigation, AIC determined that an unauthorized actor may have accessed this sensitive information between November 14, 2023, and December 3, 2023. On May 8, 2024, AIC began notifying individuals whose information may have been impacted. The type of information potentially exposed includes:
- Name
- Social Security number
- Financial account information
- Driver’s license number
- Credit/Debit card number
