WHAT HAPPENED?

Recently, Dropbox discovered that it had experienced a data breach in which sensitive personal identifiable information in its systems may have been accessed. Through its ongoing investigation, Dropbox determined that an unauthorized actor may have accessed this sensitive information on April 24, 2024. On April 29, 2024, Dropbox reported the incident in a Form 8-K filing with the United States Securities and Exchange Commission.  The type of information potentially exposed includes:

  • Name
  • Email address
  • Phone number
  • Username
  • General account settings
  • Hashed password
  • Authentication information (e.g., API keys, OAuth tokens, multi-factor authentication)
