WHAT HAPPENED?
On February 5, 2024, Prudential discovered that it had experienced a data breach in which sensitive personal information in its systems may have been accessed and acquired. Through its investigation, Prudential determined that an unauthorized party may have accessed this sensitive information between February 4 and February 5, 2024. On March 29, 2024, Prudential began notifying individuals whose information may have been impacted. The exact type of personal information potentially exposed has not been made publicly available by Prudential. However, according to state reporting guidelines, “personal information” can include the following types of information:
- Name
- Social Security number
- Driver’s license or state-issued identification number
- Account number, credit card number or debit card number
- Account passwords or personal identification numbers
