Strauss Borrelli PLLC, a leading data breach law firm, is investigating Select Education Group (including Institute of Technology, National Holistic Institute, Bauman College, Fremont University, and Arch USA) (collectively, “SEG”) regarding its recent data breach. The SEG data breach involved personal identifiable information belonging to an undetermined number of individuals.

SEG is a private post-secondary education group based in California. Founded in 2014, SEG provides a select catalog of diverse programs that allow graduates to prepare for their career and improve their career advancement potential.2 The programs offered by SEG include vocational and practical nursing, physical therapy assistant, medical assistant, medical billing and coding, massage therapy, sports and rehabilitation therapy, business administration, healthcare administration, criminal justice, ABA paralegal studies, culinary arts and baking, welding, HVAC, industrial maintenance, barbering, and cosmetology.2 Headquartered in Clovis, California, SEG owns and operates five colleges in California and Oregon.
WHAT HAPPENED?
Recently, SEG discovered that it had experienced a data breach in which personal identifiable information in its systems may have been accessed and acquired. Through its investigation, SEG determined that an unauthorized party may have accessed this sensitive information on or around November 5, 2023. On March 20, 2024, SEG began notifying individuals whose information may have been impacted. The type of information potentially exposed includes:
- Name
- Social Security number
- Billing and payment records
- Academic records
