Yesway Data Breach Investigation

Yesway is a convenience store chain based in Texas. Founded in 2015, Yesway is one of the fastest growing convenience store chains in the United States, owning and operating stores in Texas, New Mexico, South Dakota, Iowa, Kansas, Missouri, Wyoming, Oklahoma, and Nebraska, including the Allsup’s Convenience Stores chain.2 In addition to competitively priced gasoline, Yesway stores offer terrific customer service, quality product selection, and expanded food service in clean and well-lit facilities.3 Headquartered in Fort Worth, Texas, Yesway has over 400 locations and employs over 1,000 individuals.

WHAT HAPPENED?

On November 30, 2023, Yesway was informed that its external HR and payroll processing provider, Paycor, Inc., had experienced a data breach in which sensitive personal identifiable information in its systems may have been accessed and acquired. Through its investigation, Paycor determined that an unauthorized actor may have accessed this sensitive information through a vulnerability in the MOVEit Transfer file sharing software, which Paycor uses, between May 29 and June 1, 2023. On January 24, 2024, Yesway began notifying individuals whose information may have been impacted. The type of information potentially exposed includes:

  • Name
  • Social Security number
