The CellNetix data breach involved sensitive personal identifiable information and protected health information belonging to an undetermined number of individuals.

CellNetix is a private pathology company based in Washington. Serving hospitals and clients throughout the Pacific Northwest, CellNetix provides comprehensive subspecialty clinical and anatomic pathology services, operates premier anatomic pathology laboratories, and offers complete pathology laboratory services at its central state-of-the-art anatomic pathology laboratory.2 Founded in 2005, CellNetix is composed of more than 65 pathologists and 300 total employees.3 Headquartered in Tukwila, Washington, CellNetix operates at eight additional locations in Washington and Alaska.

WHAT HAPPENED?

Recently, CellNetix discovered that it had experienced a data breach in which sensitive personal identifiable information and protected health information in its systems may have been accessed and acquired. Through its investigation, CellNetix determined that an unauthorized party may have accessed this sensitive information on December 10, 2023. On January 8, 2024, CellNetix began notifying individuals whose information may have been impacted. The type of information potentially exposed includes:

  • Name
  • Social Security number
  • Driver’s license number or state ID number
  • Date of birth
  • Health insurance information (e.g., health insurance policy number, health insurance identification number)
