NYBRA Plastic Surgery Data Breach Investigation

Strauss Borrelli PLLC, a leading data breach law firm, is investigating Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, PC, which does business as NYBRA Plastic Surgery (“NYBRA”), regarding its recent data breach. The NYBRA data breach involved sensitive personal identifiable information and protected health information belonging to an undetermined number of individuals.

NYBRA is a cosmetic and plastic surgery practice based in New York. Accordingly, NYBRA offers a range of cosmetic procedures, including facial rejuvenation surgery, non-surgical facial rejuvenation, rhinoplasty, breast augmentation and reduction, body contouring, cosmetic tattooing, and a variety of non-surgical treatments. Headquartered in Great Neck, New York, NYBRA has two additional satellite locations in Commack and Manhattan, New York, and a team of 5 surgeons.

WHAT HAPPENED?

Recently, NYBRA discovered that it had experienced a data breach in which sensitive personal identifiable information and protected health information in its systems may have been accessed and acquired. Through its investigation, NYBRA determined that an unauthorized actor may have accessed and acquired this sensitive information between August 28, 2023, and September 4, 2023. On December 21, 2023, NYBRA began notifying individuals whose information may have been impacted. The type of information potentially exposed includes:

  • Name
  • Social Security number
  • Address
  • Date of birth
  • Phone number
  • Driver’s license number
  • Medical information
  • Insurance and/or claims information
