Headquartered in Binghamton, New York, Children’s Home employs more than 400 individuals at 8 locations.
WHAT HAPPENED?
On June 13, 2023, Children’s Home discovered that it had experienced a data breach in which sensitive personal identifiable information and protected health information in its systems may have been accessed. Through its investigation, Children’s Home determined that an unauthorized actor may have accessed this sensitive information through two employee email accounts. On November 10, 2023, Children’s Home began notifying individuals whose information may have been impacted. The type of information potentially exposed includes:
- Name
- Social Security number
- Date of birth
- Address
- Medical information (e.g., medical record number, patient account number, diagnosis and treatment information, clinical and prescription information, provider information)
- Health insurance information
