Ardent Health Services Data Breach Investigation

WHAT HAPPENED?

On November 23, 2023, Ardent Health was alerted to a ransomware attack impacting its systems. While much information is still unknown about the breach, on November 27, 2023, Ardent Health posted a notice about the cybersecurity incident on its website. The notice details that, in response to the ransomware attack, Ardent Health took its network offline, which includes all access to IT applications, corporate servers, Epic (MyChart) software, internet, and clinical programs.1 Additionally, numerous news reports indicate that Ardent Health has been forced to divert emergency patients to other hospitals. At this time, Ardent Health has not confirmed whether the sensitive personal information belonging to its patients or employees has been impacted.
