Strauss Borrelli PLLC, a leading data breach law firm, is investigating CareTree, Inc. regarding its recent data breach. The CareTree data breach involved sensitive personal identifiable and protected health information belonging to an undetermined number of individuals.

ABOUT CARETREE INC.:

CareTree is a software company and the developer of a care management and patient advocacy software by the same name. As a home health service, CareTree is designed to improve caregiver operations and communication with families. As a collaboration platform, CareTree allows users the ability to create a profile and invite both doctors and family to view and share information. Designed to be as intuitive as basic social media platforms, CareTree offers a central place for stakeholders to coordinate care. Founded in 2012 and headquartered in Chicago, Illinois, CareTree has about 10 employees.

WHAT HAPPENED?

On August 16, 2023, CareTree discovered that it had experienced a data breach in which the sensitive personal identifiable information in its systems may have been accessed. Through its investigation that concluded October 13, 2023, CareTree determined that an unauthorized actor may have accessed this sensitive information on July 21, 2023. Recently, CareTree began notifying individuals whose information may have been impacted. The type of information exposed includes::

  • Name
  • Address
  • Driver’s License
  • Social Security number
  • Date of birth
  • Financial account information
  • Medical information
  • Health insurance information
