WHAT HAPPENED?
On August 3, 2023, Bank of Canton discovered that one of its third-party service providers had experienced a data breach in which the sensitive personal identifiable information belonging to Bank of Canton customers may have been accessed. Through its investigation, the third-party provider determined that an unauthorized actor may have accessed this sensitive information through a vulnerability in the MOVEit file sharing platform around May 27, 2023. On October 20, 2023, Bank of Canton began contacting individuals whose information may have been impacted. The type of information exposed includes:
- Name
- Social Security number
- Financial account number
