WHAT HAPPENED?

On August 14, 2023, North Star Tax & Accounting discovered it had experienced a data breach in which the sensitive personal identifiable information in its systems may have been accessed and acquired. Through its investigation, North Star Tax & Accounting determined that an unauthorized actor may have accessed and acquired this sensitive information through a vulnerability in its system. On August 25, 2023, North Star Tax & Accounting began contacting individuals whose information may have been impacted. The type of information exposed includes:

  • Name
  • Social Security number
  • Address
  • Financial data
  • Payroll records
  • Prior tax returns
