WHAT HAPPENED?

On February 13, 2023, Heard, McElroy & Vestal discovered that it had experienced a data breach in which the sensitive personal identifiable information in its systems may have been accessed. Through its investigation, Heard, McElroy & Vestal determined that an unauthorized actor may have accessed this sensitive information through a third-party software program used by Heard, McElroy & Vestal. On July 11, 2023, Heard, McElroy & Vestal began contacting individuals whose information may have been impacted. On August 22, 2023, Heard, McElroy & Vestal sent additional breach notification letters to impacted individuals. The type of information exposed includes:

  • Name
  • Social Security number
  • Date of birth
  • Financial account number
