Strauss Borrelli PLLC, a leading data breach law firm, is investigating Data Media Associates, LLC, which does business as DMA, regarding its recent data breach. The DMA data breach involved sensitive personal identifiable information and protected health information belonging to over 98,000 individuals.

DMA is an IT services company specializing in revenue cycle management for medical practices and medical billing companies. Founded in 1975, DMA helps companies manage their revenue flow  by offering a wide variety of solutions, including comprehensive patient statement solutions and payment solutions.3 Additionally, DMA offers customers “value added solutions” such as a secure online portal, handling of claims, skip tracing services, and outbound collections calls. Headquartered in Alpharetta, Georgia, DMA has an abundance of partners, including Business Revenue Systems, Inc., National Benefit Programs, Pollux Business Services, and more. A member of AICPA, DMA has almost 50 years of experience and employs over 50 individuals.

WHAT HAPPENED?

In June 2023, DMA discovered that it had experienced a data breach in which the sensitive personal identifiable information and protected health information in its systems may have been accessed. Through its investigation, DMA determined that an unauthorized actor may have accessed this sensitive information through a vulnerability in the MOVEit file sharing platform between May 31 and June 1, 2023. On August 23, 2023, DMA began contacting individuals whose information may have been impacted. The type of information exposed includes:

  • Name
  • Social Security number
  • Address
  • Medical information
  • Health insurance information
