Founder Project Rx Data Breach Investigation

Strauss Borrelli PLLC, a leading data breach law firm, is investigating Founder Project Rx, Inc., which does business as Encore Pharmacy, regarding its recent data breach. The Encore Pharmacy data breach involved sensitive personal identifiable information and protected health information belonging to over 2,200 individuals.

ABOUT FOUNDER PROJECT RX, INC. D/B/A ENCORE PHARMACY:

Encore Pharmacy is a family of six brick and mortar pharmacies in Texas, Illinois, and Mississippi. Offering retail and specialty medications, Encore Pharmacy provides its customers with medical management, clinical instruction, benefit investigation, and financial assistance services.4 Additionally, Encore Pharmacy offers pharmacy services to customers with complex chronic conditions, such as hepatitis, HIV, Multiple Sclerosis, cancer, transplant, rheumatoid arthritis, and neurology. Originally founded as ReCept Pharmacy in 1978, the company rebranded as Encore Pharmacy in February 2023.

WHAT HAPPENED?

On July 24, 2023, Encore Pharmacy discovered that it had experienced a data breach in which the sensitive personal identifiable information and protected health information in its system may have been accessed. Through its investigation, Encore Pharmacy determined that an unauthorized actor may have accessed this sensitive information through an employee’s email account. On September 15, 2023, Encore Pharmacy began contacting individuals whose information may have been impacted. The type of information exposed includes:

  • Name
  • Social Security number
  • Date of birth
  • Driver’s license number
  • Medical information
  • Health insurance information
