Currently, Lifeline has one of the largest subscriber bases of medical alert companies and has provided services to more than 7.5 million people. Headquartered in Framingham, Massachusetts, Lifeline employs over 200 individuals.

WHAT HAPPENED?

On August 6, 2022, Lifeline discovered that it had experienced a data breach in which sensitive personal identifiable information and protected health information in its systems may have been accessed. Through its investigation, Lifeline determined that an unknown actor may have accessed this sensitive information between July 27, 2022, and August 6, 2022. On September 7, 2023, Lifeline began notifying individuals whose information may have been impacted. The type of information exposed includes:

  • Name
  • Social Security number
  • Driver’s license number
  • Medical information
  • Health insurance information
  • Dates of birth
  • Passport number
