Founded in 1981, Bienville Orthopaedic Specialists has grown to include 18 physicians and five locations across the Mississippi Gulf Coast, making it the largest provider of orthopedic care in the state of Mississippi.4 Bienville Orthopaedic Specialists has locations in Biloxi, East Lake, Gulfport, Hurley, and Pascagoula and employs over 200 people.

WHAT HAPPENED?

On March 5, 2023, Bienville Orthopaedic Specialists discovered that it had experienced a data breach in which the sensitive personal identifiable information and protected health information in its systems may have been accessed and acquired. Through its investigation, Bienville Orthopaedic Specialists determined that an unauthorized actor may have accessed this sensitive information between February 3 and March 5, 2023. On September 9, 2023, Bienville Orthopaedic Specialists began contacting individuals whose information may have been impacted. The type of information exposed includes:

  • Name
  • Social Security number
  • Driver’s license number
  • Medical information
  • Financial account information
  • Health insurance information
  • Username and password
